GOVERNMENT HAS FORCIBLY TAKEN OUR LANDS WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION - OFOASE AYIRIBI FARMERS LAMENT

Some Aggrieved farmers including a 90 year old woman Adwoa Kodie at  Ofoase Ayirebi are wailing bitterly as government forcibly takes their lands for Agenda 111 project without the needed consultation for proper acquisition .

The ploughing of the land has destroyed their cocoa farms , cash crops and other farm produce.

To the residents , due diligence was not done by the Assembly to acquire the land .

The Assembly could not meet them to  negotiate nor compensate them.

According to residents, the District Chief Executive  Hon.Paul Asamoah and the member of Parliament Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah have taken over thirty acres of their cocoa farm lands for Agenda 111 project without any compensation.

In an interview with facetvnews,  the farmers expressed their worry over the decision.

To them , both  the Member of parliament (MP) and the District Chief executive went ahead to seek approval from the Chiefs and elders without consulting the locals , irrespective of the fact that they had their crops on the land.

According to them, they are not resisting the attempt by the government to establish a hospital in the community but due process ought to be followed .

The farmers are  expecting some compensations for their damaged crops .

President Akuffo Addo has envisioned that Agenda 111 will play a critical role in making Ghana the centre of excellence for medical care in West Africa by 2030 but that doesn't guarantee his appointees to go overboard and destroy the indigenous residents' farm in the area.

Meanwhile The Acting Kotoku Kyidomhene and Akyem Bontodiasehene" Obrempong Adarkwah Gyamirah has said Government has not been fair to the farmers in the community and must pay compensation due them before the project can start .
