A man who claimed to be a chief has invaded into the COCOBOD'S land situated between Assin Wurakese and Assin Akenkansu in the Assin South District of the Central Region .
According to the residents , the said man claimed the ownership of the land and had legal backing from the government .
Professor Baffour as he was known thronged the area with his men to cut down the Cocoa trees.
His actions in the area has halted the activities of COCOBOD , to the extent of laying about 66 workers off. The workers were mostly women.
Cocoa pods which have been dried in the sun have all been destroyed because of his actions.
Facetvnews' interaction with the branch manager of COCOBOD , Mr. Prince Mensah revealed the circumstances surrounding the whole issue.
He said for now they are in dialogue with the Assembly and the legal team are working hard to calm the situation . For now , they are in a state of dilemma .
The Chief of Wurakese , Nana Dankwa Ameyaw said the professor claimed Government supported his actions.
He described the situation as so worrying and called for Government's intervention as quickly as possible because the Youth are angry.
On the part of Nana Korankye Prempeh , Chief of Akenkansu ,he said what the professor had done is inimical and this attitude brings the community down .
He is poised to squarely meet him with his men if he continues to trespass.
The Queen Mother of Akenkansu , Nana Akua Krofa also narrated her part of the incident .
She however said that the self acclaimed chief should immediately stop and adhere to what the Traditional Council is saying in order not to incur the wrath of the people as he has removed the daily bread from the mouth of most inhabitants , she concluded .
